So before I went skiing tomorrow, I thought I'd update the blog (during class...). So the last 2 times I went:
January 23
So it was Mara, Alexa, Tony, and I on this fine Friday. I warmed up with Mar a few times on the Metro Quad and then we joined up and skied with Tony and Alexa for the rest of the day. I was actually very surprised with Mara fairly keeping up with us... she improved tenfold since last time. Although they didn't get any new snow, Alexa Tony and I found some really good stashes in Beaver Pond and Andre's. Tony and I decided to hit up NWP towards the end of the day, however it wasn't worth it. Definitely not enough snowpack for the gnarliness.
January 29
Tony and I decided to skip school and hit Jay for good reason: 14+" of fresh. We left at 6:15am and got there around 8:30. The lifts don't start turning until 9am, but there was already a line once we go there. So we hurried to get our equipment on, and we were in line around 5 of. We were on the first round of chairs and hit up the trail right under the bonnie. First tracks = freakin sweet. We hit that drop right in the beginning so well with such a soft landing. Then we went into Deliverance next. There are 2 drops in there - a smaller one, and a ~15footer. Tony and I hit both right away. Perfect conditions for it. It was so great. Basically fresh stashes almost every run. Made our way over to Beaver Pond and had one of my worst runs ever haha. I fell probably 4 times in that 1 run. It was brutle. I think i was just getting tired from all the powder with every run. Then we hit up NWP and it was actually not too bad. Still a little sketchy - maybe 1 more snowfall and it should be good. Great day, though - we peaced out at 130... we were spent.
So, no big snow for tomorrow, but it will still be good hopefully.
Still can't find my camera connecter...

Jay. Stratton. Jay.
So it's been awhile since i've posted... SORRY!
So this goes back before christmas when Mara and I went to Jay. It was cool because I decided to ski so we'd be on the same level. It was different but a lot of fun. We just stuck to the groomers because of our awesome skills. By the end of the day Mara was able to make it from summit to base no problem. It was a lot of fun.
Then Steve and I went to Stratton for the day sometime around Christmas. It was really cool because he and I went the night before and stayed at his buddy's place who owns a condo on the hill. Woke up nice and early for first lift. Some great freshies in the woods, however it was really freezing. REALLY freezing.
Then I had one of the best days of skiing in my life. Trav, Jen and I went to Jay on Thursday January 8. Absolutely unbelievable. So much snow, so little people. We hit up my customary powder warm-up run right underneath the Bonnie. Then we just screwed around all day (mostly in the woods) and everywhere we went there were fresh runs. Had an unbelievable run through Andre's paradise/beaver pond.
Unfortunately, i can't find my cord for my camera, so I'm unable to post pics/vids. And I'll be more up to date with postings from now on. Hopefully i'll be going on friday.

December 11, 2008. Jay Peak
Day 2 at Jay Peak
It was a beautiful day with bright blue skies and no one around. It was pretty hard packed snow, but great for cruisin'. We started off with our traditional warm-up run (River Quai) then moved onto Beaver Pond. Dust over crust. Wasn't too good.
A few more cruisin runs, then we warmed up for lunch. Afterwards, we headed over to Stateside to check out Jet and others. It was pretty... fast. And then we decided to take Taxi back to Tramside, even though it was closed.... for good reason: Snowmaking in the begininning. Really really sticky manmade snow and 0 visibility made it a tough time to get going. It was pretty funny though.
We left around 3pm to head back to Montreal. THEN, ATTACK OF THE BUSES... AGAIN!!! It sucked. AND traffic was terrible in Montreal because of whatever happened at UQAM.
Oh, right, almost forgot. Ran into some pretty nice Vermonters... the way too over-qualified border guard who wanted to chat, and Mr. This is a 25mph zone guy. Phew.

Jay Peak 12/8/2008
1st day of the season!
It was pretty good for December 8. They had got about 4-6inches last night, so we had some fresh powder here and there. After our first run on River Quai, I decided it'd be fun to slam my head face first into hard pack. After getting up to start skiing again Trav saw me and responded, "SHIT EVAN ARE YOU OK?!" I had no idea, but a waterfall of blood was gushing out of my nose. (See pic). So that was fun. Then Tony wanted to put his arm in the orange turny thing for the tram. "DOOOONNNNN'T!!!!"
But after that, we discovered that nobody was going to Beaver Pond and Andre's Paradise, so we tore that up! Fresh lines and some pretty good powder falls. Seemed like mid season. Took 2 runs on that and then headed over to stateside which sucked.
